South of Key Largo, Florida, is a bird rehab center that primarily caters to injured pelicans. Every day at 3:30 p.m. personnel drag barrels of small fish down to the beach to feed pelicans who come from miles away. Their hidden goal is to peruse the crowd and look for injured or sick pelicans. And there is a crowd. Hundreds of pelicans gather ahead of time on a tiny beach. Lynn loves visiting here so every time we visit the Keys, we spend at least one or two afternoons hanging out with the pelicans.
